Rosacea is a disorder characterized by chronic blushing. Those who experience the effects of rosacea often report seeing redness on and around their face as well as visible blood vessels. More severe cases can create pimples on the face, affect the eyes and cause social distress. Because the cause of rosacea remains unknown, treatment is mostly symptomatic and includes topical ointments, acne medications for any blemishes and laser therapy to alleviate the appearance of blood vessels. Additionally, taking note of the environmental factors that cause blushing can also relieve symptoms. Avoiding spicy foods, refraining from drinking alcohol or protecting yourself from extreme temperatures may reduce symptoms.
