Injectables

The natural aging process has a tendency to produce fine line wrinkles, sunken features and an overall loss of facial volume. These effects can make your once youthful appearance look haggard and weary. Oftentimes, many individuals are not interested in undergoing surgery to receive enhancements to their skin, which is why nonsurgical injectable options are available that produce effective and long-lasting results. The physicians at Laserderm Dermatology & Cosmetic Laser Surgery provide anti-wrinkle injections as well as muscle relaxing treatments that improve elasticity in the skin and restore volume to the face.

BOTOX®

When BOTOX® is used for cosmetic purposes it serves to relax muscles in the face that are causing wrinkles to appear. Over time, and with continued use, facial muscles can begin to overexert themselves and create seemingly permanent lines on the face. However, when an injectable treatment like BOTOX® is administered into muscle, it can relax and reduce the intensity of the lines created.

Restylane

Whereas BOTOX® relaxes the facial muscles, Restylane acts as a dermal filler that improves a lack of volume in the skin. Restylane is not injected into the muscles, but is instead applied underneath the skin at the site of facial lines. Restylane contains hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance that works to contain the amount of moisture in the skin. The more moisture that is present, the more youthful your skin will look.

Radiesse

Like Restylane, Radiesse is used to plump sunken features in the face and immediately create youthful results. Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapatite, which restores volume and also promotes the natural production of collagen in the skin. Collagen is a carbohydrate that provides healing qualities when produced, and with an injection of Radiesse, the body can begin to naturally increase amounts of collagen in the skin even after the filler has been metabolized by the body.

Dysport

Dysport is a muscle relaxant similar to BOTOX® that is able to reduce the exertion of the muscles causing wrinkles. When injected directly into the muscles, lines and exaggerated features can relax so that the face looks younger and more alert.

Xeomin

Similar to both BOTOX® and Dysport, Xeomin reduces muscle activity that is responsible for facial lines as well as blepharospasm (excessive blinking). Xeomin is highly effective at treating forehead lines, but can also be used to treat other wrinkles on the face that result from muscle activity.

Juvederm

Juvederm is a dermal filler comprised of hyaluronic acid that works to reduce fine lines and wrinkles in the face. Juvederm contains an entire system of fillers that can be used on localized areas, and treatment has been shown to last for up to a year. Because many of Juvederm’s products are of a gel consistency, the results look completely natural when administered.

Belotero

For those who are just beginning to notice the appearance of fine lines on their faces, Belotero is a light dermal filler used to reduce facial lines that are more slight in appearance. It is often referred to as a filler for beginners and works for patients who only wish to improve mild imperfections on the face. Like its dermal filler counterparts, Belotero consists of hyaluronic acid, but is simply thinner than other fillers on the market.

Injectable treatment allows you to alleviate many of your cosmetic concerns without the commitment of surgery. Although you will have to receive maintenance injections in order to preserve the results of your treatment, the minimally invasive and fast-acting nature of injectables provides many benefits for patients.
